Reliable

Power, broadband, and water

Wise County delivers utility capacity designed to support modern industry and long-term growth. With reliable electricity, redundant broadband, and abundant water resources, businesses can scale operations with confidence.

Traditional grid electric service is provided to Wise County’s industrial sites by Old Dominion Power, the Virginia division of Kentucky Utilities. The county has also successfully supported behind-the-meter power generation arrangements, offering manufacturers and data centers additional capacity, flexibility, and long-term energy assurance.

Connectivity is critical, and Wise County has invested heavily in broadband. Triple-redundant fiber service at Lonesome Pine comes from Point Broadband, Verizon, and Scott County Telephone Cooperative, ensuring low latency and continuous uptime. This level of connectivity supports advanced manufacturing, back-office services, and data center operations.

The Wise County Public Service Authority provides reliable water and wastewater service, with the ability to meet industrial-scale demand. For specialized applications, such as large-scale cooling, Wise County has access to underground mine-water reserves that remain at a steady 51 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. This naturally cooled source creates an innovative, sustainable option for data centers and high-demand industries.

From fiber extensions to power upgrades, Wise County and its partners work directly with companies to match infrastructure to project timelines. With utilities designed to scale, businesses can move from planning to operation faster and with fewer hurdles.
